Environmental enrichments in poultry production is an issue that IPWA members have identified as an area where they would like to learn more. Three speakers (Dr. Ir. Ingrid (I.C.) de Jong, Dr. Harmut Meyer and Dr. Richard Blatchford) will be definining, identifying, and discussing the feasability of enrichments to improve welfare of broilers, turkeys, and laying hens.

The webinar is approved by PAACO for CE credit. Pre-registration is required and is available for all IPWA members.

IPWA Webinar: Supply Chain Collaboration and Engagement on Animal Welfare

IPWA is a global multi-stakeholder organization that focuses on collaboration and coordination throughout the entire supply chain to improve animal welfare. This webinar will focus on one example of how a breeder, integrator/processor, and foodservice company are working together in a coordinated and collaborative manner to drive continuous improvement in animal welfare outcomes throughout the supply chain. A panel of 3 speakers (Kate Barger-Weathers, Cobb-Vantress; Ken Opengart, Tyson Foods; Banks Baker, McDonalds) will discuss their approach to welfare improvment and how the collective collaboration is improving welfare outcomes for broilers.

The 2024 National Breeders Roundtable will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, November 5 - 7 at the Holiday Inn Nashville - Vanderbilt. Again this year, the meeting will be co-located with the National Swine Improvement Federation's meeting, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, ending at noon, Thursday, November 7. Speaker topics will be both cross-species and species-specific. The meeting will include a student poster competition and 5-minute lightening talks. For more information on the student competition, refer to the section below. The program will be led by prominent scientists and industry geneticists, updating participants on the latest research and developments in the field of animal breeding and genetics. Everyone involved in breeder operations and related functions, including industry, government, and universities will benefit.
